Zagreb – The 3rd JANAF’s International Conference entitled “Energy Strategies – Challenges for Oil Companies” was held on 5 December 2017 and gathered this year over two hundred participants.
The conference was opened by doc.dr.sc. Tomislav Ćorić, Minister of Environment and Energy, as a special envoy of Croatian Prime Minister, Mr. Andrej Plenković. The welcoming remarks were given also by doc.dr.sc. Goran Marić, State Assets Minister. The conference was attended by the diplomatic corps delegates, representatives of scientific institutions and academic community, as well as by the representatives of numerous European oil companies in order to exchange opinions, information and experiences on energy strategies, together with the latest developments and trends in the global and European oil industry.
At the conference opening, the introductory remarks on behalf of the organiser were given by dr.sc. Dragan Kovačević, Chairman of the JANAF Management Board, who expressed his content by the fact that it has been the largest JANAF’s conference up to now, and pointed out that the common goal of all participants is to contribute to the energy supply security and to implement energy, climate and economic strategies of South Eastern and Central Eastern European countries, and that such form of international cooperation is precisely an ideal opportunity for presenting new strategies and projects that the oil companies planned to develop in the coming period. Furthermore, he pointed out that by conducting good business policy and by investing into upgrades and modernisations of the JANAF Omišalj Terminal, a new strong energy supply hub on the Mediterranean has been created - the Adriatic spot market.
Doc.dr.sc. Goran Marić, State Assets Minister, pointed out that the State Assets Ministry monitored JANAF‘s work, its management method and development through stimulating strategic infrastructure in the road, railway and waterways, thus raising the JANAF business operation to a higher level, while doc.dr.sc. Tomislav Ćorić, Minister of Environment and Energy, emphasised that the Croatian plans in the energy field are directed to the maximum use of resources that the Republic of Croatia has in order to achieve an energy independency level as high as possible.
Moreover, Minister Ćorić highlighted that JANAF, as one of a key stakeholder in the Croatian energy sector, would play, in the coming period, a very important role in creating Croatian energy future.
