Zagreb – A presentation for media representatives on JANAF Plc. business results accomplished and 2008 investment plans was held at company headquarters on 31 January 2008.

All participants were welcomed by Mr. Dubravko Tkalčić, JANAF Plc. Director General, who said that 2007 JANAF’s business results hit a record high counting from the year Croatia gained its independence.

Ms. Gordana Sekulić, Strategic Development and Investments Division Manager, presented JANAF’s key 2008 development projects which include the PEOP project, JANAF’s oil storage capacity increase and oil pipeline system modernization.

When discussing the PEOP project, it is important to emphasize that Ministerial Declaration consisting of five countries was signed in April 2007. The Declaration states that for the major oil route, the existing pipelines of the signatories will be used, avoiding both the Adriatic and Mediterranean Sea.

As to increase JANAF’s storage capacity for obligatory and commercial crude oil and oil products, a part of the current year’s investment programme also includes building of new storage tanks on both Sisak and Omišalj terminals. The necessary permit procedures for these projects have already started.

Ms. Nada Plešnik, Environment Coordinator at JANAF Plc., presented key guideline concepts in environmental protection by which the company has been doing business for the past 28 years. She highlighted a few future plans in the field, including displacing the pipeline route from the arch of the Krk bridge, reconstruction of the tank farm facilities on the Terminals and connecting the Omišalj Terminal with the Port of Rijeka via submarine fibre optic cable.

Ms. Plešnik also pointed out that JANAF Plc. has altogether transported 156 million of tons of crude oil, since put into operation, by which the Port of Omišalj received approximately 2070 tankers without a single ecological accident.

By both the realization of 2008 plans and further compliance to the new EU energy policy, JANAF Plc. would get into a position to change its current role of the strategic oil pipeline of south-east and central Europe to the one of strategic pipeline for the whole Europe.

As for JANAF’s future plans and investments, it has also been said, among other things, that the modernization would ensure pipeline’s longevity and that a high level of environmental protection would be maintained.
