Zagreb – JANAF's Management Board, Board Chairman Stjepan Adanić, MSc., and Board Member Vladislav Veselica, have participated in the 5th International Energy Forum – INTERENEF, held in Split on 23 July 2021. The topic of this year’s Forum, organized by the Institute for European and Globalization Studies, was “EU Energy Policy and Energy Democracy”.

The participants were among others welcomed by the Chairman of the Management Board, Stjepan Adanić, MSc. who highlighted the importance of such forums as places to exchange experiences and gain better insight into current trends in the energy sector in the EU, as well as globally. In his welcoming speech, Stjepan Adanić talked about JANAF’s operations, its strategic importance for the Republic of Croatia and the fact that JANAF represents one of the cornerstones of Croatian energy independence. Additionally, he announced JANAF’s diversification into a green economy and transition to low carbon energy, based on the guidelines presented in the Energy Development Strategy of the Republic of Croatia and the European Green Deal.

Four panels held at the Forum provided the participants with an opportunity to discuss the EU’s new development vision based on clean energy and climate neutrality by 2050, Nord Stream 2 and the different perspectives of that geopolitical energy project, and the importance of including the voice of the people, who should be given a level playing field in energy markets, which are currently dominated by corporations and geopolitics.
