Rijeka - DIOKI Group and JANAF Plc. donated a € 549.000,00 worth digital diascopic RTG apparatus to the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka, intended to the Department of Radiology. Owing to the procurement of this digital diascopic RTG apparatus, the intervention radiology and gastroenterology services can be opened. By using the digital diascopic RTG, the patients are less exposed to the radiation, while the instruments provide for greater diagnostic reliability to be achieved and the analysis procedure to be shortened due to the electronic records exchange.
“The multi-purpose digital diascopic apparatus has become fully operational at the beginning of this year. In the second half of the last year, after considerable break, the diagnostic radiology of the digestive system has been re-established, thus reducing the enormous waiting list to about 2-month waiting period. Furthermore, the diagnostic gynecology has been re-established, which uses the diascopy – hysterosalpingography. However, afterwards the diagnostics and intervention in angiology has started, for the time being, on peripheral arteries and very soon it will be applied on carotid arteries as well. Carotid artery stenting is a continuance of procedure on the Department of Radiology, which we have initiated 3 years ago and achieved one of the leading series on the national levels with the minimum complication rate. The donated apparatus has significantly improved the possibilities of performing the complex intervention procedures in the fields of vascular and non-vascular interventions. The intervention procedures are also being introduced on the bile ducts and digestive tract.
The digital system enables an image to be saved and stored in a digital form with a possibility of its distribution to all departments of the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka without using the film. The possibility of subsequent processing of an image obtained in terms of its quality improvement, as well as the possibility of reviewing the dynamic digital record reduce significantly the patients’ exposure to the ionising X-ray radiation and it is also of extreme importance in the education of medical students and residents. When conventional systems are concerned, in order to repeat a certain part of examination, a patient needs to be submitted to radiation. The digital detector in fact represents the most expensive part of the apparatus and owing to this technology the value of this donation is even more appreciable and significant. The record by means of digital detector protects a patient from unnecessary radiation and enables a doctor/physician to have an image of high quality and to perform safer procedure,” said prof.dr.sc.
