The Supervisory Board has appointed Mr. Stjepan Adanić, MSc. as Chairman of the Management Board of JANAF Plc.

Zagreb – On 21 October 2021, the Supervisory Board of JANAF Plc. adopted a decision appointing Stjepan Adanić, MSc. as the Chairman of the Management Board of the Company for a four-year term, following the public selection procedure.

"We have successfully overcome a very complex period for JANAF, during which we were faced with a severe reputational and business crisis. After a record-breaking business year of 2020, we are also recording exceptional business results in 2021. Over the past year, we have maintained our existing partnerships and acquired new ones, all of them with highly reputable integrated oil companies and oil traders. They are an important element of our success, much like all of our employees, whose tireless work has contributed to record-breaking business results. With competent governance decisions, good choice of business strategy and investment in relations with partners, JANAF has proven to be a stable and secure company and has ensured the long-term viability of its business.

I am confident that we have entered a new era for JANAF, enabling us to diversify our operations towards a green economy and low-carbon energy transition, ensuring long-term sustainability, demonstrating zero tolerance for corruption and reaffirming the key strategic role we play in the energy viability of the Republic of Croatia," the Chairman of the Management Board, Stjepan Adanić said upon his appointment, also adding that, together with the Member of the Management Board, Mr. Vladislav Veselica, he will continue to work on the Company's growth and development to the benefit of all its employees and shareholders.

About Stjepan Adanić

Stjepan Adanić, MSc. was born in Lobor (Croatia) in 1959. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Zagreb in 1983 and earned his postgraduate degree in 2012 from the same faculty. He is a Croatian war veteran and holds the rank of Brigadier General of the Croatian Armed Forces. From 1990 to 1992, during the Croatian War of Independence, he served as mayor of Varaždin and head of the town's Crisis Headquarters in 1991, when one of the first Croatian war victories was claimed with the surrender of the 32nd Varaždin Corps of the Yugoslav People's Army. In 1991, President of the Republic of Croatia Franjo Tuđman appointed him as Assistant Minister of Defence and Head of the Military Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Croatia. He was the chief negotiator in negotiations with the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) on their departure from Zagreb and Croatia, and later the chief negotiator in the talks on the exchanges of prisoners of war, when he participated in the release of 2500 persons from Serbian concentration camps. He served as State Secretary at the Ministry of Croatian Veterans' Affairs, Family and Intergenerational Solidarity from 2007 to 2011. He has been employed at JANAF Plc. since 1998.
